MobilDri Dryer: Keep Gear Dry While Planning Small Game Hunt

by | Jan 24, 2023

The fall season is upon us once again, and that can mean so many things. For me, it means time to start my annual small game hunt rituals.

I’m sure everyone out there has certain things they do to prepare for the season. Some pack the night before, grab a rifle and head out the door.

Mine goes a little like this…

I get super giddy with excitement weeks before opening morning. I’ve already gone through my gear at least twice, bought some semi-healthy snacks to keep me going for an all-day hunt, cleaned my .22 rifle, and double-checked that I put my MobilDri boot dryer in the truck.

Unlike the snow that typically comes with the big game hunt, the early season consists more of rainy days: great for stalking and walking, bad for keeping dry. Even if I stay close to a canopy cover, my boots always get wet inside and out.

Good thing my MobilDri is portable and quiet, so I can trek back to my truck and dry my soggy boots instead of calling it quits and heading home empty-handed.

What makes the MobilDri worth adding to my inventory?

Every good hunter knows that rainy weather during a hunt is a good thing. It helps with quiet stalking, no leaves to rustle underfoot, and when a squirrel jumps from tree to tree, they shake the water off the leaves, giving us hunters a big movement to catch.

Of course, rain also means wet gear, noisy boots, and damp demeanors.

This portable boot dryer with heat gives me the versatility to dry my boots WITHOUT having to go home and plug into the wall.

The MobilDri comes with a 12-volt plug-in (think cigarette lighter) and a magnetic bottom so you can make it stay on your truck bed, boat, or ATV and not worry about it tipping over.

The base comes with the following attachments, too; it’s not JUST for boot drying:

  • 1 pair of glove-drying tubes
  • 1 pair of shoe/short boot drying tubes
  • 1 pair of tall boot extender tubes
  • 1 helmet or hat-drying dome
  • 1 In-home conversion kit to run in fan mode only at home

Additionally, it comes in a sturdy drawstring bag to carry everything in one shot, making storage simple.

Can I truly get dry boots in just 15 minutes?

The most common way to dry gear outside is to lay it on a flat surface and wait for the sun and air to do the work. This could take all day, and how can the inside of my gear dry if it lays flat?

Air-drying hats, gloves, and boots are only productive when 1) there is a good breeze and 2) gear is open to ALLOW the air to blow through inside and out.

That is when I pull out the MobilDri.

The MobilDri boot dryer is known for its fast dry times. The tubes attach to the base with two dry settings: cold fan only air or heat, allowing complete airflow throughout my boots, hat, or gloves.

Pair the settings with the vented tube attachments, and my damp and sweaty boots can be dry in as little as 15 minutes. The same goes for hats and gloves.

In the case where I get more than just a little damp, I can still have dry gear in approximately 30 minutes. This is a great excuse to stop for lunch at the truck and warm me up while I wait.

Now, if you dunk them in water, drop them in a puddle, and find them on your way back out of the woods, they may need more dry time, but even if your drive home is 45 minutes long, your gear will be dry before its time to stow them away.

The biggest benefit to having my portable boot dryer is this.

Health and longevity. I know, kind of out in the left field, right? Wrong! Did you know that mold and mildew can start to grow in as little as 2 hours? Do you know the last time you truly deep-washed and dried your gear?

Companies who work with mold and mildew removal will tell you basic prevention is to open the area to airflow and absorb the moisture; try to dry whatever got wet as thoroughly as possible.

Well, the MobilDri provides an option to eliminate that bacteria growth and stinky wet smell immediately, and with two airflow options to boot! (to boot…to your boot… get it, eh, eh, eh?)

I hunt mostly on public land, so sometimes I have to walk a long way to get to where I want to hunt, or I might get lucky with a nearby UTV trail, and I can use that to get closer. Bonus points for taking my UTV along, it has a 12-volt plug-in so I can dry my wet boots with my MobilDri without having to leave the woods!

Just like UTV saves me time and muscle aches during my small game hunt, my MobilDri saves me and my gear from possible bacteria exposure.

With the drawstring carry bag, I can take my MobilDri with me, cutting the time my gear is wet at least in half. Not only does this keep my gear dry and bacteria out of them, but it also keeps ME dry and healthy by not being exposed to such unhealthy conditions.

I stay healthy; my gear stays healthy, and my bank account thanks me for not having to buy new gear every season.

Conclusion:

The name of this rugged boot dryer says it all. It is versatile; it is mobile and dries boots, gloves, hats, shoes, and scarves. You name it, the vented tubes on all the attachments provide heat-circulating air for quick and complete drying of my gear.

Without having to wait until I get home!

This 12-volt boot dryer with heat is now an essential part of my packing list for any small game hunt I plan. Even taking all the pieces along is lighter and more compact than stuffing another jacket and gloves in the truck or finding a place to put muddy boots on the floor.
